Turkmenistan Airlines expanding and renewing the fleet
Turkmenistan Airlines is set to expand and renew its fleet by adding new widebody and narrowbody-aircraft. With Boeing, the airline is set to order four B737MAX8s, which will be used to replace the airline's B757-200s. The order was approved by the President of Turkmenistan in June but hasn't surfaced yet on the order book at Boeing. It could, however, been placed as an unidentified order.
Also approved by the President was the acquisition of two B777-300ERs. Both aircraft are former Cathay Pacific-aircraft. They are currently registered as 2-TKQA (37898) and 2-TKQB (39235) and were owned by TMH Aviation Leasing. At this moment, the duo is being prepared for delivery at Teruel in Spain.
Today, Turkmenistan Airlines' fleet consists of mainly Boeings; four B737-700s (two operated as VIP-aircraft for the government), eight B737-800s, three B757-200s (all stored at Ashgabat), and four B777-200LRs (one operated as VIP-aircraft for the government). Next to these, the airline is also operating two Airbus A330-200P2Fs and one VIP Challenger 870.
