Wizz Air in talks about new order

After the news broke that Wizz Air had a bid on rival easyJet rejected, it became also known that the airline is in negotiations with Airbus regarding an additional order for A320neo-family aircraft. According to Reuters, the order could be for at least 100 additional aircraft.

Similar as competitors Ryanair and easyJet, Wizz Air is planning an agressive post-pandemic growth strategy, especially with several traditional national airlines financially struggling in the pandemic.

Wizz Air Group, which consists of Wizz Air (Hungary), Wizz Air (Abu Dhabi) and Wizz Air (UK) has a combined fleet of 62 A320s, six A320neos, 41 A321s and 35 A321neos. It also operates a single A330-200F on behalf of the Hungarian government. Wizz Air currently has open orders with Airbus for 34 A320neos and 202 A321neos.
