Yes, You are right Jaap. The Goverment of Hungary will decide soon whether Kecskemet Air Show 2012 will be organised or not. Unfortunately there is not decision about the fate of the event yet, but every airshowgoer hopes that this air show will be organised next year again!

According to some rumour the goverment will decide only in December, but please do not feel this rumour 100% sure, because maybe it is just a bad stray information and we hope, there will be decision within 1-2 month about Kecskemet 2012.

If there will be any information about the event, we will let You know as soon as possible!

To agree with my fellow countryman: we asked the Gripen jocks at Zeltweg, and they told us the decision is expected for December or January - which is maybe a bit late. We also talked to some of our guys in Radom, and their opinion was the same. To be honest, I'm not very optimistic about a 2012 Kecskemét show. So far, the decision-makers in the government did not seem very passionate about such an event (to say the least), and the Hungarian armed forces are currently facing some financial issues (as the country itself, and half of Europe ).

But hey, hope dies last...

Nothing, unfortunately.
However, the unofficial info is (I believe it was disclosed on the show's Facebook page) that the Minister of Defence is "against the airshow".

I'm planning a trip overseas to Hungary this August to visit with family and I'd like to coordinate my dates with this incredible airshow. If anyone knows anything or hears anything in the future please update this thread.

Unfortunately, the Kecskeméti Repülőnap is and was not planned officially. The organizing process is initiated and announced officially by the Hungarian Minister of Defense, and this did not happen.

To our best knowledge, there will be no airshow at Kecskemét in 2012,
and although it's not easy to say anything firm about it (or about our future, since now political concepts change on a daily basis), I feel that there will not be airshow at least till 2014 or rather, 2015.

Sorry to write this, You can simply delete the Kecskemét line from the calendar.
