Definitely a very interesting airport! I wonder what the two US-registered aircraft are doing there. Both ferrying to some sandpit in the middle east I guess? And does the reg, ending in CS, indicate that they might be working for Calspan?

The US aircraft both belong to Rampart Aviation, just a civilian lease company with a website so no CIA or other intel agency. Rampart was recenty hired by the US Army for parachute training so that might be the connection which brought them to Europe.

Okay thanks for the explanation, even though I don't know what the connection between US Army, Parachute training and Sevilla could be. I also never suggested CIA, but I mentioned Calspan. Which (like Rampart) is a civilian company with a website (whatever that means). Anyway, I saw on Ramparts website that they are a specialist in STOL-operations and I still prefer to think that these planes are on a ferry to some place further east.

Basman,
They flew USA/ Greenland/Iceland/ Scotland/ Birmingham /Guernsey/Bordeaux /Sevilla.
There must be a shorter way to fly to the (Middle) East, i would suggest a contract in Africa?
anyway nice planes, and a long way from home.
Best Regards Pieter,

Hi Pieter,

Sure, could be Africa as well. I just wanted to make clear that I didn't suggest them to operate for any intel agency. Could be an NGO or the UN and you're right about the route being not the most logical for the middle east. The term 'sandpit' in my first post still fits probably ;-).
