Vintage Wings of Canada (VWC) organized its second Open
House of the 2008 season on its home base Gatineau, near
Ottawa. The highlight of the event was the roll-out of its fully restored
Sabre 5, set to fly again soon after the event. The Sabre
will receive a Golden Hawks colour scheme to commemorate
a century of flight in Canada next year. Without doubt, VWC’s
open houses have evolved into Canada’s premier warbird
events; the relaxed atmosphere, excellent photographic opportunities,
combined with a zero dollar entrance fee and possibilities
for up-close viewing are simply unmatched in the country.
