| Every year on 14 July, France celebrates the storming of the Bastille prison during the French Revolution in 1789 with a |
| military parade over the Champs Élysées in Paris. A flypast of airborne assets of the armed forces is always part of the |
| programme. On the day before the flypast, most of the participating aircraft, including some spares, gather at three air |
| bases in the vicinity of Paris: Evreux (jets from the air force and navy), Creil (helicopters from the army) and Villacoublay |
| (helicopters from the air force and navy). The tankers and AWACS usually fly from their home bases, as do the transport |
| aircraft, except for the CN235s. These also fly out of Evreux. |
| This year was probably the last time the helicopters of the Aviation Légère de l’Armée de Terre were based at Creil, as |
| the base is scheduled to close in September. Foreign participants were a Belgian Alpha Jet and a United States Air Force |
| MC-130J from RAF Mildenhall. The Sécurité Civile was supposed to participate with a King Air and Dash 8, but these |
| were cancelled due to operational requirements. The defile starts with the fixed-wing aircraft. This is followed by the |
| defile of ground troops. About an hour after the fly-past of the fixed-wing aircraft, the defile ends with the fly-past of |
| the helicopters. The serials of the ALAT helicopters were not actually read off, they were identified by the codes worn. |
