Crash US Navy Super Hornet

On 3 June 2022, at around 14:30 hrs LT, a US Navy F/A-18E Hornet crashed in a remote, unpopulated area near Trona (CA), about 236 miles south-east of Lemoore. Unfortunately the pilot was killed in the accident.

The Super Hornet, operated by VFA-113 Stingers ('NE-2xx') and based at Naval Air Station Lemoore (CA), was flying a routine training mission when the fighter went down near the US Navy’s test range at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake.

Although not yet confirmed, the serial/code of the Super Hornet is reported as BuNo 168881/NE-204. As soon as we have confirmation on the serial we will update this news item.

The accident is under investigation.
