First Belgian F-35A delivered
On 3 December 2024, the first Belgische Luchtmacht (BLu, Belgian Air Force) F-35A Lightning II was delivered to Luke AFB (AZ), where it will join 312th Fighter Squadron Scorpions, part of the 56th Fighter Wing.
The Lightning II, serial FL002 (c/n AY-02) departed NAS Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth (TX) with call sign 'Scorpion1', indicating a delivery flight.
The first four Belgian F-35As will be delivered to 312th Fighter Squadron. This squadron was inactivated in 1991, but reactivated on 1 June 2023 as an F-35A training unit, primarily training F-35 crew for the Belgian Air Force.
