First GlobalEye for Sweden

On 25 January 2024, Global 6500 C-GZVH (c/n 60111) was delivered to Saab Aircraft at Linköping. The Global 6500 will undergo extensive modifications and equipped with the Erieye radar system. In Swedish military service it will be called the Spaning 106 (S106, Spaning stands for reconnaissance).

The Erieye is an Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) used on a variety of aircraft platforms, such as the Saab 340 and Embraer R-99. It has recently been implemented on the Bombardier Global 6000 aircraft as the GlobalEye.

On 30 June 2022, Saab announced that the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) has placed an order for two GlobalEye AEW&C aircraft plus an option on two more. The aircraft are to be delivered in 2027. The GlobalEye can operate up to eleven hours long AEW&C missions and will conduct air, sea and ground surveillance operations.
