Lockheed Martin offers Super Hercules to Sweden
Lockheed Martin and the Swedish company MilDef International AB will work together in offering the C-130J-30 Super Hercules to Sweden. The Svenska Flygvapnet (SwedAF, Swedish Air Force) still operates a fleet of six (out of eight) ageing Tp84 (C-130H) Hercules transport aircraft, of which the oldest one was delivered in May 1969.
In June 2022, Sweden reported that they would buy four former Aeronautica Militare (ItAF, Italian Air Force) C-130Js, but this potential deal never materialised. Last year October, the Brazilian Minister of Defence Jose Mucio mentioned that Brazil intended to offer the Embraer KC-390 Millennium transport aircraft to Sweden.

According to Tony Frese, vice president of Business Development for the Air Mobility & Maritime Missions line of business at Lockheed Martin: “Aligning our expertise with MilDef strengthens Lockheed Martin as we expand our relationships with Swedish industry to generate jobs and economic benefits, while also supporting Sweden’s air power mission through our C-130J-30 Super Hercules offering.”
This year Sweden will decide on the successor of the C-130H transporter; the C-130J-30 Super Hercules or the KC-390 Millennium.
