Pegasus show off its colours

Our 'Boneyard Safari' aviation friends had the honour of posting the first photographs on their Facebook account of Air Education and Training Command (AETC) Boeing KC-46A Pegasus aircraft with colours during their training missions at the home base Altus AFB (OK).

The tail colours and unit badges are known to be the first ones applied to USAF's new Pegasus fleet. Most probably they were painted before the start of the first 97th Air Mobility Wing First Annual Flying Rodeo, which was held at Altus on 24 and 25 September 2020.

Throughout the rodeo, aircrew from the C-17A Globemaster III,               KC-135R Stratotanker and the KC-46A Pegasus competed against other crews to test their job knowledge and refocus on competency of core mission sets.

Pictured are KC-46As:

18-46041 with Altus fintip and 97th AMW markings
18-46049 with Altus fintip, '56ARS' flagship tailmarkings including a heritage 97th Bomb Group 'Y' letter and named Spirit of the mighty 97th
