On 6 June 2022, a Chung-Hua Min Guo Kong Jun (RoCAF, Republic of China Air Force) F-16A Fighting Falcon experienced a mishap at Honolulu International Airport (HI). The pilot was aware that the nose landing gear failed to come out and used the fighter's tail hook to slow down.
The aircraft, serial (6716) 93-0817/LF, used to be operated by the 21st Fighter Squadron Gamblers ('LF') at Luke AFB (AZ), was on its way back to Taiwan to be upgraded to the F-16V variant. The 21st FS, a US based training squadron, is scheduled to be relocated to Tucson International Airport (AZ) to make room for the expanding F-35 fleet at Luke.
