The 149th FW goes heritage

The USAF 149th Fighter Wing has recently welcomed a new heritage jet to its air fleet. Lockheed Martin F-16C-30-CF 86-0331 with code SA, now sports a nonstandard camouflage pattern. This was inspired from Vietnam-era jets like the F-4 Phantom II, F-100 Super Sabre and F-105 Thunderchief.

In October 2020, the wing celebrated its 25th unit anniversary of being redesignated from the 149th Fighter Group to the 149th Fighter Wing, and the new paint scheme commemorates the occasion. The 149th Fighter Wing Lone Star Gunfighters is an F-16 training unit at Kelly Field Annex, Joint Base San Antonio – Lackland (TX), and is a part of the Texas Air National Guard and Texas Military Department.
