Where are the carriers
The status of the location of the aircraft carriers is as of 10 January 2022
The USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) Carrier Strike Group (CSG) is underway in the Celebes Sea. Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 2, based at NAS Lemoore (CA), is embarked and includes a total of nine squadrons and detachments. The Carl Vinson is homeported in San Diego (CA).
The USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) CSG remains in the Ionian Sea. The Strike Group departed for its deployment on 1 December 2021. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin ordered the CSG to remain in the Mediterranean Sea, rather than travel to US Central Command. The Truman is homeported in Norfolk (VA). Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1, based at NAS Oceana (VA), is embarked and includes the following units.
The USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) is in port in Yokosuka, Japan. The carrier normally begins its annual maintenance period in the early part of the year, which would likely leave the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group (CSG) to conduct operations in the Western Pacific.
The USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) CSG departed Naval Base Coronado/NAS North Island (CA) on 3 January 2022 for a scheduled deployment. Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9, based at NAS Lemoore (CA) is embarked and includes includes the following units.
