Very nice overview. Thanks!

Firstly I thought the UK market must have grown last year as Cityjet and Flybe (?) increased their frequences and routes from Schiphol. But... I forgot both airlines only operate small aircrafts

Thumbs up for the overview.

In my opinion the significant drop in the value of the Pound Sterling (opposed to the Euro) is also a major contributing factor to these results.

Cheers,

I would say that, apart from the pound sterling rate, another very important factor is called 'Ryanair'.....I wonder how the UK-Weeze and UK-Eindhoven numbers look like.

True, but the drop in passengernumbers of Schiphol is not new either, already in 2008 they went down a lot. But as you say, Ryanair is an important factor but not the only one. If I look at my personal situation, I travel abroad for my work every now and then but for me, living in Arnhem and working in Aalten (Achterhoek), Düsseldorf-International is my first choice airport, mainly because of the traffic congestion around Schiphol. Of course, that reason is not specific for UK-flights but still it counts.

Very interesting topic! Is it possible to get a comparison between VLM/Cityjet/Air France/KLM or (whatever they are called now) and BA
on the AMS-LCY-AMS route?

It sure is interesting. I would also be interested in the numbers of FlyBe and Jet2. Had a Jet2 flight to Leeds recently which wasn't even half full. FlyBe flights are widely used by our clients and my colleagues, especially from/to Düsseldorf.

After many months of negative passenger growth on AMS's main market - the United Kingdom, February 2010 has finally seen growth return over the same month of the previous year = February 2009:

- LTN-AMS-LTN = +70%
- LPL-AMS-LPL = +35%
- LCY-AMS-LCY = +34%

- BFS-AMS-BFS = -24%
- CWL-AMS-CWL = -15%
- LHR-AMS-LHR = -11%

- All routes UK-AMS-UK February 2010 = +2%
