Req Amsterdam spotting locations ...

Post by warren »

Normally when I'm transiting through I stay on the viewing deck, got a few spare hours tomorrow and want to check out some of the interesting dues that are on the movement site on the cargo stands (think its S), is there a bus I can catch to get down there or is it a long walk ? Also Schipol-East same question, I know there's a shuttle bus to the Ibis but is there a bus I can take which will take me to East ?

Most (all?) busses around the airport are the Schiphol Sternet busses. The routes can be found here. Sorry, Dutch only it seems....
For cargo I think you will need to go to "Schiphol-Rijk", bus 187, 287.
For east you need to go to "Oost", busses 187, 199.
Busses that pass P40 and are heading into the direction of Amsterdam also pass the McDonalds spotting location (busstop is right in front of it).

Hope this helps and if you need help with the Dutch on the mentioned site, just shout

Buses to Schiphol East are 193 and 199 (not 187). The bus stop where you have to get off the bus is called "Bussluis". It's about 10-15 minutes from Schiphol-Plaza. For the cargo apron (R is easier to reach than S) take any Sternet bus to P30 (i.e. driving south) and leave the bus at bus stop "Toekanweg". It's 5-10 minutes from Schiphol-Plaza.

187 eventually gets to East as well... although it is a 'long way home' ;)

You also might want to try the shuttle bus to the Dorint Hotel, located walking distance from Schiphol-East.

187 is a great route to take, it takes you around the 24, with pretty much plain playing fields. The same for 18L and it ends at East, so all in all quite a tour :)
