The Thursday-update of 30 April is still not published yet. But indeed, I wouldn't hold my breath... :|
It is now:
•For the first time in 30 years, the German Army will provide an MBB Bo105 helicopter display at the Air Tattoo.
The Heeresfliegerwaffenschule (School of Army Aviation) is sending examples of the de-armed Bo105P1 variant for both the flying display and static park at RIAT 2015.

•In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, in which 145 of its pilots took part, Poland is making a substantial contribution to RIAT 2015.
The Polish Air Force's solo MiG-29 'Fulcrum' display will return to the flying programme,
while a Su-22 'Fitter' and C295 will feature in the static park;
from the Polish Navy will come a Mi-14 'Haze' and M28 Bryza, both for static display.

•The German Navy is sending to RIAT its biggest contingent of aircraft for many years. Examples of its fixed-wing maritime aircraft,
the P-3C Orion and Dornier 228, will be joined by a trio of helicopters:
a Sea King, a Sea Lynx, and for the first time a civilian-registered EC135 now being used for training.

All will be on static display as part of the Securing the Skies operational theme at RIAT 2015.

RIAT Fairford 17/18/19 July 2015 Air Tattoo

Post by wolfhound32fs »

In the SIS Summary is in very light grey an announcement about 4 SU-30MKI from India for Coningsby and Fairford

I can remember this happening a few years ago

Would be very welcome, is this just a rumour at the moment ?

That's odd..... I photographed a Bo105 departing RWY27 on Monday last year! Had probably been on static...
I guess it all depends on what is meant by 'helicopter display'.............. :?

Not a rumour, more a wishlist from someone without knowledge about a calendar. IF the Indians send Flankers to the UK (hard to imagine, as the engines have very little hours left until overhaul has to take place, for which Russia is not too happy to give the needed resources, due to India's recent interest in Western aircraft) it will be some month after RIAT closed its doors. I'm afraid it was something started by someone that thought that the Indians squeezed RIAT into their exercise last time, so they are to do it everytime.

I wonder what the source of this information is. The Indians are still building new Flankers and a lot of them are still to be delivered and they don't fit exhausted engines in them. In addition, the Russians need the cash badly so I can hardly believe that they would abandon a long time ally as the Indians. Keep in mind that the Indians still have a massive amount of Russian built equipment!

If the exercise actually takes place I see no reason that they wouldn't participate in RIAT as they did in 2007 (I am not saying that they will either but it will surely not be due to time expired engines).

IF it will take place, it will be during August. RIAT is in July.

Not being in the UK at the time of the RIAT is a much more likely reason than time-expired engines!

I also read 10-28 July somewhere by the way... I don't know how reliable that is.

The August dates were posted on UKAR from a source within the very inner circles of Coningsby. The same source that told about the Indians stating about the engine issues to the RAF as a very likely cause that they would have to stay home completely in the end. I think the 10-28 July came from someone that in his mind scheduled the exercise around RIAT just for wanting them to come to Fairford.

They are at least planning to come to the UK, if they show up at FFD remains to be seen.

NEW DELHI: Indian fighter pilots are now planning to match their air combat skills with among the best in the world, first against their British counterparts this year and then against American top-guns next year.

IAF pilots are gearing up to fly their Sukhoi-30MKI "air dominance" fighters and IL-78 mid-air refuellers to the UK to take on the Royal Air Force during the "Indra Dhanush" exercise, which is scheduled for July-August.

Update today: the Hungarians are now on the website. Also, RAF Voyager, Hercules and C-17 for static, but the main news is that Mildenhall will send a CV-22B Osprey and a MC-130J. Nice!

Even if they are on time to participate, Indian AF has declined, according to the newest RIAT update!

As far as I know, there is (and was) nothing mentioned on the RIAT website about Indian AF participation or that they have declined...

They have invited almost the whole WORLD, which is unlikely that they all will participate...resulting in a long list of 'declined'...
Still, there was never anything FORMALLY mentioned that they have planned to participate!
