Forecasted temp 33°C

A "cool down" swimmingpool would be nicer ;)

Perrie, you can't be serious. Last time the aircraft on static display were cramped between fences and the distance between crowdline and runway has always been very big.

By the looks of the map, the runway will be behind the static, which will be partially 'active' static as some display aircraft will also be parked there.

Rob

Nope, the static at Beauvechain isn't good at all, at least it wasn't during the latest open days. Barrier everywhere with ad banners on. The runway is far far away. The spot where they parked the B-17 was okay for nice photos, but still far from the runway.

According to their website the spotters will transported to the northside(!) of the airfield so the sun - and it will be sunny and hot the day after tomorrow - won't be in a favourable position for runway shots, rehearsal shots, etc. right?

the spotters will be transported to the north side to take pictures of the aircraft that are parked there because they take part in the flying display. After that, you can return to the static (south)side. That is NOT the same as being parked on the north side all day! You will be able to do both the static and the flightline; that's a big bonus if you remember the pics that were taken at the flightline during last year's open house!

Thanks for the update... Anyway the following is written on their website:

begin quote

Dear spotter friends,

The Air force base of Beauvechain will open its door for the spotter on July 2nd, from 0900 Hr until 1800 Hr. You can enter the base via the gate P6. It’s a great pleasure to announce that you will have privileged access (via shuttle busses) to the Operational Zone in the north of the base. There will be two points providing food en drinks especially for the spotters.

Entering the base, you will receive a paper with all the directives; we thank you in advance for your kind cooperation.

end quote

I don't read anything about walking around freely on both north- and southside of the runway so you must have different sources than me :-)

Sorry for the inconvenience and the not correct info I have given...

cheers Jeroen

no problem, no inconvenience :) in the end, we will have to wait and see friday! (I would have added "no sweat", but given the temperature stated for friday that might be off the mark... )
