Alternatives for Canon EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 III USM

I'm using a Canon 450D with a Canon EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 III USM

Well, this is not a quality lens sharpness wise, but is should do pretty good at the static stuff.. . Use 1 focus point. Further experiment as you go.. GL!

What would you recomend i use that is relatively affordable ?

Well, too say affordable, the Canon 70-300 IS USM (Not DO) is much better than the lens you are using. Also affordable is the 70-200 4.0 non IS from Canon.. These should be evenly priced. And these lenses give a good quality, with good sharpness. These will give you mm (70-300) and sharpness (70-200), offcourse the 70-200 lacking 100 mm.. But as i see how close you can get on the ground, 70-200 should do the trick. In air shots even 300 mm is lacking a bit at the long end. BUt that 70-300 IS version will perform pretty good.

But what is affordable to you?

Thank you for your time Andras. The 70-300 IS looks to be in my price range so i will see if i can get one of those. I just bought a house so money is a bit tight for a while. In the mean time i will keep trying to tweak my shots and will post more here and get some feedback. I think i also need to learn Dutch, it would make reading the photo tips forum easier

That was not a stupid question, that was a remark that needed explanation ... I'm sorry. Andras was right with his guess (thanks Andras).
And I forgot to mention that I really liked the composition of the air display shots!

Sorry Rob, i think we got lost in translation. What i meant was the MY question may have been a stupid one. I just didnt know what you meant by composition.

No, it was not a translation fault, it was a bad copy/past action...
I meant that your question was not stupid, but that I should have explained WHY I thought your compositions needed some adjustment. It shows that posting messages is a delicate matter .
