Hi there,

Every camea has the option in the menu to format a memory card. That way you make sure the card is compatible with your camera.

Just browse your menu for the option format and try that.

If you post your type of camera, I am sure there will be someone to assist you if you cannot find this option.

Ciao,
Anno

What Camera or Device do you have?

I have a 40D which supports 8gb cards as a matter of fact, I use a Sandisk Extreme III 8 GB in it.

Both cameras have no problem with Sandisk 8 GB disks.

However, goto menu tab 5, (first wrench) do the format.

if this fails, try the card in a normal cardreader and see what that does.

With SD cards (and assorted) this is the case as the controller is in the device, so that might be limiting the size of the card. On CF cards however the controller is in the card itself, making the size only limited by the chosen storage format on the device.

Yep, it's true, SD cards (SD SDHC) have their own little controllers on board.

Getting back to the 40D and 50D, The 40D goes up to 32 GB compact flash, same as the 50D

HOWEVER.... the 40D does not support Udma cards, the 50D does.

So.... format your card yet, or checked it in a reader on your pc?
