4Aviation Romania tour (day4) - Mihail Kogalniceanu

Post by Arnold ten Pas »

Hi,

On Thursday we had a visit at Mihail Kogalniceanu (or "MK"). The Escadrila 861 Aviatie Lupta flies their MiG-21 Lancer-B and Lancer-Cs from here, as their homebase, Fetesti/Borcea is closed due to reconstruction of the infrastructure which has everything to do with the acquired F-16s. Escadrila 862 Elicoptere has the IAR330s operating from here. Very nice bace with lots of MiG-21 activity!

Great pictures of those old Migs.
Did you see the derelict Mig-29s (and a handfull of Mig-23s) ? Are they still stored in the open air at this airbase ?

As we were not allowed to get close to the Fulcrums due to American presence in this aerea with UH60s only 2 were read as well as one Mig 23.
