Avro Vulcan B.2 XH558 - Final Flight

Post by FlyingmonsterFC »

After eight years in the skies, XH558 flew her final flight last week (October 28th) from her home of the ex-RAF Finningley - now Doncaster Sheffield Airport. Crewed by Bill Ramsey, Martin Withers of Black Buck fame, Phil Davies and Jonathan Lazzari, the jet took off for the last time at 1447 and landed just 15 minutes later for the final time - streaming her huge chute. Since returning to the skies in 2007, the jet has flown some 228 flights and amassed some 346 hours... bye bye old girl!

The last touchdown...

I am not at all happy that it happened. But you could say; happy are those so privileged to experience it at that moment in time.......

Nice to see these pictures. Feel fortunate to have seen her fly a few times. Indeed; smile because it happened.
