Sintra: Museo do Ar

Post by LifelinerOne »

Hi again,

On my final day in Portugal, I decided to get myself a rental car for a quick drive up to Sintra Air Base to visit the Museo do Ar. This museum has a small but nice collection of, mainly, Portuguese Air Force aircraft.

Entrance is 3 euros and to photograph the aircraft outside you need to ask the frontdesk to be guided because you're wandering on the apron of the airbase itself.

A few shots from the collection:

1. Photography can be a bit tricky due to the aircraft being cordoned off, like seen here at this UH-19 9101:

2. The C-47 in the museum is wearing this DGA livery on the right side:

3. And TAP Air Portugal on the left-side:

4. 6403 is a N2502:

5. Quite the rare fighter jets in Europe, the A-7, like this TA-7 15550:

6. Falcon 20 17103 is on display at the second hangar:

7. Which also houses this SA330 19512:

8. And some other aircraft like this T-38 2605:

9. And G-91 5407:

10. Outside are four aircraft, three of which could use a bit of TLC, as demontrated by P-2 4711:

11. P-3P 14806:

12. And C212-200 16508:

13. But Alpha Jet 15209 is still looking quite OK:

Hope you liked the impression. You can find all pictures taken at the museum at: https://flickr.com/photos/lifelinerone/ ... 004913637/

Cheers!
