The day started early for the long trip north to Leeuwarden AB. Toghter with other members of Onze Luchtmacht we were going to visit the Frisian Flag excercise today with a base visit in the afternoon. The weather proved to be challening with lots of rain in the morning and an overall low cloud base during the day. Luckily it started to get dry just before the morning wave started but very few decent pictures could be made from the spotters hill near Marsum.
F-35 F-023 made the best departure of that morning
In the afternoon we were escorted on base. Our hosts had prepared a nice spot for us about 50 meters away from the beginning of runway 23. About 5 minutes after our arrival we heared the first engines start up.
First to fly was the PC-12 from the Finnish Air Force that had made a short support visit. It was followed a short time later by its Learjet buddy.

First aircraft to start the afternoon wave
There were no Belgian F-16s in the morning and just two in the afternoon
A special edition of this F-35
A skillful rooftop landing
The beautiful Tiger F-35
And its equally beautiful 322sq companion
After the last touchdown we stepped on the bus and left the base. Thank you to our Airforce hosts for making this base visit possible.
I hope you like this selection.
