Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.

Goodmeurnin',

edit: Dutch text removed/translated. Sorry for that. That's what you get when you copy it straight from another forum and don't think about it...

Because of the good weatherforecast for the weekend I decided with some friends to visit EDDL for probably the last time this year.
We really didn't see any special visitors today except for the Greek Hercules which arrived the day before. So despite the easterly wind we had to go to the railway station viewing area to get this one.

The upper surfaces of the Herk were still covered in ice. The aircraft was initially parked in the shadow of the big LTU-hangar, so we had to wait for the shadows to shift. It's nice to see the titles in Greek on the lefthand side of the aircraft.

In the meantime we could make some pictures of aircraft taking off...

Unfortunately most aircraft are already quite high when passing our position. However... this CSA 737 kept it reasonably low.

Because in winter you're hardly bothered by heatwaves it's also possible to make a landing shot of this Tu-154:

Another take-off shot... this time it's an LTU A330-200 in the new colours. In the background you can see the A44-bridge over the river Rhine.

We were still waiting for the Herk to get into the light, but we never got the chance, because he was moving! Luckily a Hercules won't climb that fast so a good take-off picture was possible.

We had what we came for on this side of the airport, so we went to the viewing area on top of the terminals. From this spot you can also make a few decent shots :)

This one looks green... are the passengers already suffering from airsickness?

Ah... no! The green stuff is de-icing fluid and they don't mind sharing it.

It is easy to see in this picture which area they have sprayed.

We were able to make a "clean" picture of the Aeroflot-bus as well :)

You can try your russian language skills on this one:

The terminal viewing area is good for making pictures of landing,

taxiing

and departing aircraft.

And if you got the right equipment you can also make decent shots of the smaller aircraft on or over the runway:

The last shot I've copied from a colleage, thanks nustyR for the inspiration :D

I've shot a lot more pictures in this beautiful but cold weather, but I'm not showing them all, because this was going to be an impression :D

Greetingsenzo,
Bert.

Nice pictures Bert

Interesting to see an Iberia A319 at DUS, gives us a chance for the Retro closer to home.

Thanks for the nice comments, guys!

@ Polecat: at least you got sun this time with the Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov :)
Could't wish you luck, only just read the message...

@MAS017: indeed, old Sergei himself :)

@EC: hope we'll get the Iberia retro soon. Ik hope they don't do it as the Turks did... less than one year for the retro A321. Instead of painting a "real" Turkish machine, they painted a leased one that they had to return soon... :(

I wish everybody a good ending in this year and a great next year!

Bert.
