BA Flight 009

Post by PiPoServisAir »

Does any here have any foto or movie of the arrival of this damaged airplane. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BA_flight_009 on airline.net are only photos after this disaster. Maybe some UK spotters.

Thanx Peace PiPo

I don't think that there would be much video footage or photos of the arrival in Jakarta.
As I recall, it was night at the time, and back then the news media weren't that quick in responding to these sort of events.

Yorden

But how did they fly it back to UK then. I hear most of the paint and front windows was damaged. I know that the engines fly with a cargo plane back to uk, but did he fly back to the uk with the paint damage??

There is a documentary made about this mishap. I saw it a couple of weeks ago. It was either on Discovery/Military channel or on National Geographic channel. The documentary showed footage about the external damage (big parts of the painting had vanished), but to my humble knowledge, there was no mentioning over the repairs and how the bird got back homebase.
Perhaps that could get you on track for further info.

I see on airliners.net that it is now on Bournemouth:http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=1123749 in service of EAL. But wing cut of. It is still there, when i look on google earth: 50°47'14.99"N 1°50'55.16"W.

And after the disaster it fly years for ba even visit SPL 1 time. I see the docu also on tv and downloading it now. But was wondering if there was any photo of arrival in UK.
