Vienna (Wenen) spotting

Post by EC »

Earlier this month I made a visit by car to Vienna. It is a long drive, 1200 KM from Amsterdam, but the airport has great photo opportunities.
You do need a car to get to the runways and then good shoes or even better a bike to get real close to the action.
The lanes around the runways are closed for cars, this means you have to walk 10 to 50 minutes from the nearest parkingplace to the runway itself.

What is there to be seen: the highlights are EVA and China airlines A330's which seem to be alternating the days. They arrive at 8 in the morning and leave before 11.
Then there are the Austrian widebodies and commuter types from the neighbouring countries, but have look for yourself.

I always thought the wings of the fly were white, but they are a kind of pearl, shining green and purple under various light angles.

All this was till about 12 0'clock landing on rw 34. The sun was to far to the south by now and I moved to a spot along rw 16, this was a 40 minute walk from the road.

After 3 in the afternoon I went back to the landings at rw34 but now on the other side. Again a 20 walk from the road.

The next morning I was back again at 34, as you saw before you can move along the runway, this means you can choose if you want in the air, just above the ground or touching down.

I was by the way not the only being along the fence watching the aircraft

Very nice pictures! The T7's with AUA c/s looks pretty awesome! :D
Is it difficult to find places, not too far from the airplanes?

Great shots and great spots, nice to have a little look-see at places you don't see or hear much about.
# But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake #

Very lovely shots.

Like the Nikki paintjob.

Nice to see how all the local airlines have some sort of reference to the upcoming European Championships Football on their planes.
I always say a boy can learn more at an airport than at any school.
