Wittmund Spottersday 30 July 2008 50 Years F-4 Phantom

Post by Flanker27 »

A great day, a bit harsh light, and shooting the flightwave against the sun, but well organized by the Germans. Hey we know 450 people don't fit in 5 buses.
Here my first selection of pics, comments are welcome, and I am sure there are loooooads more.

Some pictures taken from the other side of the runway that day:

1. WTD61 Phantom during its 'sneaky' takeoff and therefore caught most of us by surprise.
Image

2. Of course the 'ordinary' grey F-4s taking off.
Image

3. And the 38+58 again, leaving some rubber on the runway
Image

4. A-4s
Image

5. For a relative small jet they make a lot of noise

Nice event, did not stay long on base because of the bad light for flight ops. Felt like going back in time with al those Phantoms and Skyhawks.
Here are some of my shots, hope you enjoy them

And some from me from my first ever spottersday visit. And it was a great one for me. Thank you JG-71!

Only static though, as I am not satisfied with the quality of the flying ones

Image

3. The good old Starfighter
Image

4. Starfighter head on
Image

5. Skyhawk

7. F-4F Phantom 50 jahre Phantom

8. F-4F Phantom in a different angle

9. Some people wanted to get personal with the aircraft

Great try on the HDR images Bert! Besides the bit fainty look they come out okej (maybe some different tone mapping?). The airplanes are missing a bit of contrast or is that just my screen??

BTW, =censored= =censored= :

I'd rather depict atmosphere and the 'heat of the moment' making a catchy photo than to reflect the real situation and real colours showing a boring photo.

Merged, as I think you are in favour of that.
