A Short Swiss trip (mil)

After finishing the business in Switzerland I decided to hire a car and do a little tour from Zurich to Emmen, Alpnach, Meiringen and vice versa. The weather started off pretty bad but the next day was blessed with some sunshine.

Didn't catch a glimp of this "new" old Mirage dual flying? Saw that one on the messageboard somewhere a couple of days ago...

pods ands sign

The pods on the F5F as Spacedust mentioned are indeed weird looking, no clue on the purpose.

I had not even noticed the (PC6s not allowed) sign that Mirage 69 mentioned on the PC21 pic myself. A funny sight as these PC21s taxi out of their hangar and after returning simply taxi in again round the back like entering a carwash :D

The pods on the F-5F; isn't that the standard Swiss towed decoy system? The (smaller) decoy itself on one station, the "mothership" with winch on the other.

The No PC-6 sign probably has to do with the fact that taxiing to/from Pilatus at Buochs crosses a public road and with the limited view of a taildragger plane directly in front and below, there is a risk of for instance a schoolchild on a bike who ignores the traffic lights being turned to minced meat. I assume Porters are either escorted or pulled to and from the runway then?

The pod carried under the left wing of the F-5F is an Ericsson EriJammer A100 "Vista 5" ECM / jamming pod. (On the right side it carries a counterweight to equalize the balance).
