Forum rules
ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

Very nice shots indeed!! The 747 hard landing is a blast! 8)

Today i used the new lens of a friend (Sigma 120-400 OS) for it's first shots, to test the 400 mm range. Sadly the active runway was 27-09 so i didn't really know the good spots to stand. So a few shots are more in the direction of the sun. First time with this lens ever, so had to get used to the weight. I found the OS didn't really work as good as a Canon IS, but then again, this is a "Budget" lens. Enjoy!

I tried to submit photo #1 to airliners.net, but it got rejected...
Can anyone help me clarify the reasons why it's been rejected?
There is too much grain or digital noise in these photo(s). All scans contain a certain amount of grain, and all images from digital cameras contain a certain amount of digital noise, but these amounts should be kept at acceptable values.
There are several ways to avoid or reduce grain and digital noise, and it will often be possible to correct this problem. If you want to read more about this problem, and about possible ways to correct it and hopefully attempt a re-upload, please go to http://www.airliners.net/procphotos/reasons.php#grainy" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

These photo(s) have a "soft" appearance. This does not mean they are blurry or out of focus, but that they need an extra kick of sharpness. With the help of image editing software, this is usually fairly easy to do. If you want to read more about this problem, and about possible ways to correct it and hopefully attempt a re-upload, please go to http://www.airliners.net/procphotos/reasons.php#soft" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The "soft" comment has been the rejection reason for almost every photo (only one got accepted) I've submitted.
What could be the main cause of the soft appearance? My EOS 350D? My Sigma 70-300? Photoshop issue? Something else?

You can change your settings of your 350D but I think this is more a Photoshop issue.
Just do some more kicks of USM.
Allmost all photos are softer when you shoot at 300mm instead of 70mm.

#1 was shot at 76mm. ;)
I'll try to play around with USM, see how it turns out.
