ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

Swedish invasion

Post by henkderidder »

27 may 1975 Swedish AF used Soesterberg for a fuelstop on their way to Le Bourget airshow. They came with 4 Viggens. The Klu was even thinking to buy the Viggen as a successor for the Starfighter at that time. They came 3 versions: 2 fighters, a recce one and a duel. All versions in one day! Support in these days: a still bare metal Dakota and a C-130. The Viggens had all kind of missles to impress the Paris ladies and I had never seen before.
Before one could fly a Viggen, lessons were given in the Saab 105, a dozen (!) or more came in. The Saab105's, Dakota and C-130 came on 10 june 1975
I hope you enjoy these BW pics , and if you have pics of the Sweds at Soesterberg : please post them!
Thanks to Hans Drost for mind settin'
On with the show:

Great pics Henk. Below some other Swedish AF aircraft at Soesterberg, this time in the 90s. Slides made by Henry "Schilder" Gerssen, I only digitalized them...

I can't answer your question at this moment but concerning the Lansen I can tell you that it wasn't the last one ever at Soesterberg AB
