New fence and Swiss at Wittmund

Post by henkderidder »

Yesterday Hans Drost and I drove over to Wittumd to to try our luck with te Swiss Hornets and the new fence. Like Iwan wrote "photo oportunities are still good" On the 26 site there are a lot of infrastructure and bushes in front of you but is it still possible to take good pics. On the 08 site photo posiblities are great in the afternoon. Thank you Iwan for your good discription.
There were not much phantoms active, (due to holidays?) only 3 flew the regular missions at 800-1200 and 1400hours. also 2 models were scrambled in the moring and 2 in the afternoon.Lucky they were changed so we saw 4 different scramble F-4F. Also 2 departed with 5 tanks, so 9 different F-4's were seen. 2had celibration zapps on their tail. Also a C-160 did some landing efforts. The Swiss were with 4 hornets present. 2 on the platform near te 26 site and 2 in a HAS. According to a well informed local spotter the other 4 will come next monday.
On with the show:

No problems with secrurity, we didn't see them , they were very laid back. Perhaps due to te new fence.

Hi...

Just a little question, how much millimeters do I need at Wittmund? I can go as far as 300 mm in FX or 450 in DX (cropped) format.

Grtz.
