I went to exercise Tiger Gust at Dijon yesterday, we saw 6 Saudi F-15s during the day. Wind was from the South.

Hey

Good to see you all at Dijon. It was an absolute Superday. Melchior, Marcel and I loved every second of it.

After spending the night at the Formula 1 Hotel, we arrived quite early in the morning at the basefence. Photoconditons next to the runway are excellent in the morning. Low sun in the back, Beautiful! At noon the sun on the head of the runway already so we moved to the basefence to welcome the afternoon mission there.

Here some pictures. Sorry, it seems quite a lot,, I could not choose. And there are so much more :-)

Morning Mission. Take off at 09:00

The Gendarme came to check up when we were at the base fence, noting down pasport data and car licence plates. Very friendly and no problem at all.

After the last mission returned we decided to leave. The sun disappeared behind the clouds, just after the last aircraft had come in. Perfect timing !

Beautifull pictures Frank! :D

-Can you tell me how many mm (on 1.3 or 1.6 crop) are needed to take the planes on the runway/take-off/landing?
-The one picture in which you see the stepladders at the fence. Where is this point. 'Half way' the runway, spot 3 scramble map, where the road bends, or is this closer to the beginning of 36?

Thanks for the information.

Thanks Emile

About your questions
-Can you tell me how many mm (on 1.3 or 1.6 crop) are needed to take the planes on the runway/take-off/landing?
-The one picture in which you see the stepladders at the fence. Where is this point. 'Half way' the runway, spot 3 scramble map, where the road bends, or is this closer to the beginning of 36?
Next to the runway (which is between spot 2 and 3, but more close to 3) you could use a 70-200 if you have 1.6 cropfactor to take the picture from the side. I prefer to use the 300mm (but i have a 1D with 1.3 cropfactor) and I used a 1.4 extender to take them more head-on.

The other picture is taken very close to the beginning of rwy 36. From spot 1 you walk into the field next to the fence. There you are only a few meters from the taxitrack. Conditions are ideal in the afternoon, with the sun behind you.

Hope this helps!

Absolutely beau-ti-ful take-off shots! A feast for the eye. :great:

Only disturbing item: a fellow spotter amidst the young crops. Please, don't do that. Appreciate the opportunity and savour it.
