Winter Wittmund Wonderland

Post by henkderidder »

On 26-01-10 Bert and I vistited Wittmund. When we arrived the sun was just above the horizon, it was freezing cold (-12), and the first wave of 8 Phantoms departed. That day 2 more waves of 8 Phantoms did fly. Also 5 missions with A-4 skyhawks were made and we had 3 visitors(2 only overshoots: a Tor and Tiffy) and one who came in to give a penalty:A Do 228 LM.
We had a great cold day with max tempeture; -6 , with beautiful light and nice company.
Enjoy the pics.

At first very nice Pictures .The Do 228 came from a Pollution Control Mission and must fly to ETNT to carry a person to ETNN. I think the Pilots were :grumble: :@$#:

Marvelous shots. Especially of the smoker taking off.

Spoke to some German fighterpilots who are in basic pilottraining here at the Lufthansa school in Phoenix (before they go to Texas to fly jets). Funny how none of them wanted to fly Eurofighters. They all want to fly the mighty Phantom!!!

Thanks for all the positive feedback, shots were made with a 70-200mm lens wih a 1.7 convertor for pics :2-3-8-9-14 and 21. To make the pics on the runway you need when the F-4 is in front of you about 135 mm. with a SLR body (I used a D-300)
