Las Vegas - McCarran

Post by Boudewijn van Oirschot »

Hi guys!

I am just back from my short holiday in the USA. I visited a lot of places and of course, Las Vegas was included.
In first instance I'd like to visit Nellis AFB more then McCarran but unfortunately there were no flying activities during my stay..
Oh actually, there was one. Only one USAF Hornet took off in the late afternoon.

So, I decided to go to McCarran for a while. According to local spotters it is quite difficult to find a good spot around the airport.
They told me to be aware of security and heatwaves. I haven't noticed any security around so I might have been lucky.

Just a few pictures from a quick stop:

Hello Bas,
Great pics! love the light. But you should have stayed at Nellis to try to catch the unique USAF Hornet :P

You didn't catch any wide body planes over there? I like the Air Canada the most.

Please don't post any southwest planes anymore my bad dream where just over. Please post that tip what I gave you. The originals please.

Yeah, it was. But my lens didn't fit through the gaps in the fence...

I did see some wide body planes at Vegas. The Philipines A340 for example. And even BA, Condor and Virgin Atlantic showed up.

Oh but I just like those very cute 737's :)

You mean the files I gave to captain to inform me about all the information?

Trick is to rent a pickup and 'borrow' a stepladder at Walmart ;)

But that is not allowed, you need to take distance from the fence when using it.
