Forum rules
ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

California tidbits... 14-06-2010

Post by LifelinerOne »

During a daytrip with my American collegues we passed some airports...

First a quick stop at Mojave. Photography from the outside is very disappointing and not allowed. As soon as we tried, the security was all over us. So, I only got the Convair gate-guard :(

Later on, we drove by Lancaster Fox Field and got this Do328JET

And at Van Nuys I mananged to capture this S-64E of the LAFD

Security at Mojave? That's a first! I was there beginning of march and had no hassles (and photo's to prove it if you wish)

Yeah, I know! There are now signs everywhere which says that photography is not allowed and white jeeps are roving at the perimeter fence to enforce the signs. We talked with one of the guys in such a jeep and he said that the customers using the airport don't like seeing pictures of their planes parked at Mojave on the internet.

Ah well, you can't always have it your way.

No, I was a little lazy to walk around the CV to take a picture of the Q-4 which is also preserved...

I don't think so. They just don't like camera's anymore.

The signs were there, but we shot there anyway. And it is not like we were not obvious.... shooting with 3 guys and a very red jeep. I've even shot on top of the jeep in plain sight.

Yeah, I think I saw a shot of that on JP.net  Maybe it had something to do with a lot of activity at Virgin Space.

Ah well, next time it maybe better to just fly over the boneyards!
