:shock: Incredibly nice report! I hope you and the other members will post more of this after the trip.
like an ancient Mig-21 F13
Well, these are not THAT ancient, as these are Shenyang F7's instead of Mig-21F's. They look the same but they're supposedly a little more modern.

Hello again! Thanks for all the nice comments! To anwer some questions;

• the J79 sounded nice but not in the way as it was with the RF-4C or TF-104G ;-(.
• Sri Lanka seems very save now. There is a lot of police and military everywhere but there is no tension. Btw, when we talked to pilots they think it is boring now, action has left the building.
• the F7 (or J7) is indeedie newer then the F13 but as I understood some of them are already more then 30 years old…. So they are ageing.
• the floodings did influence our trip a bit weatherwise and planewise but we got a lot of action back for it… The First days were a bit rainy but thats what you get in the tropics. The last days where very very hot… We missed some bell206’s that where flying in the north and some (operational!) aircraft that are on a exhibition that is closeby the place that I am now. But I am too lazy to go after the hard week….

Btw we also visited the “technical school”. There were SF.260’s again. I will put some pics of all the W&R later. PD and/or MD will put a 4Aviation log later.

I am in the Mountains now enyoing an extension to be a tourist. Most of the 4Aviation Group headed for Yelahanka and some returned home. I am sure you will see pics from them soon and they will be more creative and better photoshopped (or lightroomed as Frank would say!).

Here are some (also civil pics) to give a better impression of yesterday;

1 The MiG.23 take-off was loud. In the morning we missed this but because the student did so bad he had to go again ;-)

2 The Antonov was a nice extra, may-be also for Guus

3 After a touch and go he came in after 45 minutes (in the sun pfff)

4 Ugly 727 in the background, sorry

Mppfghh, make that the other way around (for principles) 8)
But usually, the main gears are approx. level. Hard to tell here what the reason for this was.

Thanks for sharing Marco, that's the pleasing J-79 sound indeed. Too bad it never howls when in (near-)idle power... :wink: Although it looks to me like Kfirs have the later-generation elongated nozzles that don't produce the characteristic howling. But hey, the taxiing-sound is enjoyable just the same!

Oh, by the way, I notice a lot of "remove before flight"-labels hanging from the aircraft. Were those pins put in after landing, or did this bird never take off that day?

(Must have been quite an experience over there!)

Regards,

Stephan
