Hi Jens,

It's a Kawasaki (X)P-1. It is developed to replace the P-3C Orion in the maritime patrol role. Currently there are 2 XP-1's flying at Atsugi: 5501 and the 5502 (this is the one on the 7th photo). It's first flight was in september 2007 en it was delivered in 2008 to the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force. The 5501 has a red/white c/s as the 5502 is all light blue as you have probably noticed. TRDI (Japanes Defence Ministry Test Research and Development Institute) are flying/testing these aircraft at Atsugi.
Cheers, Michael

How jealous can one get ... what a weather, what a light ... Visited your website and had a look at both Hyakuri and Atsugi, you were very lucky. Like Dino said all the nice stuff in one day, execpt for the US-2. Atsugi is planewise one of the best in Japan, just love it ...
