Great plane indeed, this was between 9 and 11 o'clock, a lot of fog in the morning, well, more like fog parts, sun - perfect atmosphere, but this picture looks like it's rotated ;-) or not Matijn?

Hi Douwe, looking good with your new lens! Looks sharper than the Canon. Do you also use a calibrated monitor nowadays? If your monitor is set too dark you will want to compensate that with „overexposing” your images. Your last couple of shots all look a bit overexposed or maybe have a bit too much brightness/exposure (PS wise) put into them. If you fix that your are right on the money dude!

Greetz!
thnkx Andras - but the lens is much "slower" than the Canon EFS 55-250mm - I must get used to this one

My pics are indeed a bit over-exposed; don't know if that is the monitor, but it is not calibrated (yet).
I'll give it another try today.
Maybe "under-expose" the pics in the camera settings while shooting ?
Could it be the sensitivity of the lens ? Just have it for 6 days now.

Well, i assume you shoot RAW so you could adjust it in PS3, and normally if this is the result out of your camera, (it comes out overexposed) you could underexpose 0.5 or 1 stop like Martijn said. But if your camera detects a lot of light it would automatically underexpose so you need to "overexpose" to have a correct exposure. (That is a lot of exposure in this sentence..) Get it? it also depends on the metering your camera is set to. The 1000D doesn't have a lot of metering modes but this doesn't have to be a problem in these conditions.

Did you shoot in manual mode maybe?

Why did you choose the Sigma over of the Canon version if i may ask? Does it hunt a lot? (and i mean the 75-300 IS from Canon..;-) )
