Airbus Vueling vs Mirage 2000 (intercepted?)

Post by Twintail32 »

Last Friday I was on Vueling flight VY8366 from AGP to AMS, playing with my camera.
Then a Mirage 2000 showed up.... interception?

There was no message from the cockpit crew. After we landed I asked them.
The answer was; "Could be everything"....

Like Crizz says it does definitely look like you were intercepted, but what a fantastic video you got out of it :)

Thanks! It was just a lucky shot. I followed the plane and thought it was "just" an airliner.
Just trying to make some nice shots.
But when it turned into our direction, I was thinking "WHAT THE..."
And then a big smile on my face... ;D

If you'd sent that to a large newspaper you'd be famous! ;) (and 'some' newspaper would probably report you were 'almost shot down' or 'faced death' :P)

Very nice! Is that pilot in 103-KD taking a picture of you at 2:00 minutes ? ;)

Some nice banking at the end by the way.
Cheers,
Gideon

Very interesting!!!!

I (personally) would say it's a tango scramble. Reason is that it's only 1 Mirage as far as I can see, but indeed with live ammo!

Why not try and send this file to the French unit? You can ask if they (indeed) made some nice picuters (between 1.54 and 2.10)

Very nice, thanks for sharing! :worship:

Is there no website with interceptions like this? When the Dutch F16s are going out it's on the news...

Very very nice video!

Yes, I could see only 1 Mirage.
(our plane was almost banking, because of the people sitting on the right side of the "aisle", were standing on our site....)

AFAIK "tango" intercepts on civilian aircraft are not allowed by ICAO. It would all change if one of the guys up front were military, or reservists, then it is "fair game". Anyway, 'could be anything' is wrong, twice: either they requested the tango intercept or they were incommunicado for a while and were the target of an alpha scramble. It's one of those things you don't tell the 'meat in the back' ;-)
