Post by graham77 »

Surprise visitor to Brize Norton this morning, Russian Air Force Open Skies TU 154 RA-85655. Heat haze was a big problem, but lovely aircraft.

Special thanks to Bernie for the heads up, and the usual suspects at 08 for the company and banter 8)

the titles says Y.A. Gagarin Cosmonaut Trainings Center, think it´s from the Space Research Center but 85655 is an old open skies aircraft.

My apologies, I thought this was still an Open Skies airframe. The Callsign used was OSY33T "Open Skies 33T" (which is the same as the Open Skies An30's which visit) 8)

According to my iformations, the forward part of the luggage compartment houses cameras AFA-41/10 and AFA-41/20. A special device allows to print the coordinates on each pic. Other cameras can be carried, such as Zeiss Ikon MSK-4. Windows are located under the belly to allow photography : 3 aligned in line-of-flight for vertical photography, and 2 for oblique photography.
