Axalp 2011

Post by planecrazy »

Here some pictures of the air show at Axalp. Normally the Tuesday is a training day but because of some severe flooding around the area of Meiringen, due to terrential rain during the weekend, the air force decided to cancel the event :( on Wednesday and Thursday, so the military personnel could be used in more needed areas.
here a picture of the flooding:

now I know why I hated it that I had to cancel my visit to Axalp. Hope to meet it next year under better circumstances!
It remains on my toplist of aviation spots.

Very nice! Wel done, the hornet popping flares is my favorite.

I thought Axalp was completely cancelled this time, but it seems there was some activity?

Normally the Show is on Wednesday and Thursday, but there are practice runs on Monday and Tuesday. I don't know if there was any activity on monday because of the bad weather in the morning, but saw a flyover of PdS over the lake in the afternoon. I went on Tuesday (luckily) because the weather predictions were very good for Tuesday (and the rest of the week).

They are great! Love number four the most. What a nice aircraft it still is and a great panning.
You could try a bit more selective. It will make the report stronger in my opinion.

Nice pictures. Luckily the choice to go up Axalp on Tuesday turned out to be a good one. That first picture is impressive, where was that taken? I didn't see it that bad around Unterbach.

This is a picture out of one of the newspapers. But this picture was taken in the area of lautersbrunnen.
One of my own pictures i made in the area of aareslucht (other side of meiringen) there the water in the canal was reaching one of the houses.
