Gilze-Rijen, KLuHV Air to Air

Post by Zipper »

Hi...

As a participent in the Royal Dutch Air Force Historical Flight, some days run different than planned.
I was invited to go on two trips of "Close Formation Flying", one flight with two Harvards and one with two Fokker S-11 Instructors.
Under nice weather conditions too!
I do not say "no" to invitations like that and, of course, I took my camera with me. This was my first "Air-to-Air" experience.
I used a Nikon D3 and a 24-70 mm 2.8 lens. Shutter speeds between 1/80 and 1/180. ISO 200.
Below you see six examples of what I did that day.
Military or civil??? In my opininion it doesn't matter.
It's the result that counts, ain't it???

WOW! Stunning shots! Did you take the pics through the canopy, or did you opened it? Some lovely shots! It's time the KNVOL publish a new book, love the A2A shots in the 25 year book. Your photos will fit nicely in between!

Hi...

Yes, I did, but next time it's OK to open the canopy, the pilot said (so there WILL be a next time!!!).
Specially for the S-11 that will be better because of the round shape and thickness of the canopy. And that canopy had a lot of dirt spots on it.
On the picture below you can see all those spots, I had to remove a lot of them while editing the pictures in Nikon Capture NX2.
