Seattle: Special Liveries - 17/18 april 2012 [PICS]

Post by phkza »

During my trip to Seattle I had quote a bit of time to do some spotting around Seattle Tacoma Airport. A great airport in my opinion, with lots of places to watch planes. Numbercrunchers should have no problem catching everything in both take-off and landing, but also us photographers have plenty of good spots to catch planes in the air and on the ground. The three parallel runways sometimes pose a challenge, as does the changing sun, but other than that: excellent. No police interference, plenty of room to park your car en pleasant local spotters who are willing to share their best spots.

SeaTac is the homebase of Alaska Airlines, that offers lots of interesting special liveries, as well as daughter Horizon Air. Below a selection, shot in both good and bad weather.

#1 Horizon Air operates in both its own livery and that of Alaska Airlines.

#2 In my opininion the best livery, celebrating 25 years of Horizon service.

#3 Horizon Air sponsors lots of sports teams. This Q400 supports the Washington State University Cougars.

#4 University of Oregon Ducks livery.

#5 University of Montana Grizzlies livery.

#6 University of Washington Huskies livery.

#7 Boise State University Broncos livery.

#8 Montana State University Bobcats livery.

Alaska Airlines has some nice paintschemes as wel. Unfortunately, the famous ‘Salmon-Thirty-Salmon’ recently disappeared.
