Phuket (VTSP/HKT) - 03/03/2012

Post by ToVeR »

Here some pictures from my second day at Phuket. Started the same as the day before, with RWY27 in use, so the airplanes landing towards the Nai Yang Beach. No decent photo-opportunities. Lucky for me the Orient Thai Airlines MD-80 landed a bit long, so that it did offer a decently lit picture opportunity. After some time they started using RWY09 and did so for a large part of the day.

After HS-TAP there was one more Thai Airways International A330 landing, but I missed that one. Shortly after that operations again switched to RWY27, so HS-TAP was for me the end of a second - more successful and more pleasing - day of spotting at Phuket. The next day I would fly back to Bangkok (flight at 0725, again on HS-TAW).

Nice pictures again! I am more a fan military than civil stuff so my winner is the Navy Do228. But the Orient Thai MD80 with the Heron (combo-bonus? :D ) is nice as well.

Yeah, the military ones were unexpected surprises. Especially on a weekend day.
At the time of spotting the heron annoyed me, actually. I was hoping to get some decent pictures of an MD80 of Orient, but once it did show up so did the heron, one some pictures nicely in front of the big metal bird. On not one other picture that I took did I get birds. But on this one ... bingo.

The Royal Thai Navy have a small detachment here with usually 1 DO-228,1 Cessna 337 and 2 S-76B.Their ERJ-135s and Fokker 27s visit usually once or twice a week.

Singapore AF Fokker 50s amd Indian Navy DO-228s from Port Blair also visit occasionally.
