Forum rules
ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

Moldova August 2012

Post by StMaartenpiloot »

Once every two years I go on a family (wifes side) visit to Moldova, this time to show of the little newborn Lionel.

I have a few things planned (aviation) and have done one in the first few days. The report will get longer next month.
The photos are Civil and a little militairy.
The photos are only edited in a simple program on flickr.com

My first visit was Tiraspol, on the way there I photographed the gateguard at LUKK

After watching google earth and getting info from family I tried to get to the old Russian airbase where some old helicopters are standing in the North West corner and little South to it a Antonov aircraft. (an-2) But during the nights I stayed there the army was very active at the shooting range (next to the airport)and the next day seeing trucks at the airfield and armed guards with even the bajonet on the rifle we turned around and went to see the Mig in the East of Tiraspol

I hope to show you some more of my findings the coming two weeks.

September 1st:
Visited the airport in the late afternoon wondering if the 747 was still there, this one was standing on a taxiway when I landed at the airport on the 25th. From the stairs from the visitors platform I took these.

ER-BBS Get Star Boeing 747-200F
New company took over this 747 from skytrain cargo.

Ah cool, Tiraspol!
Bribing your way into a country that doesn't exist and sending a post card with stamps that will get it thrown away the moment it crosses the border. Lovely Soviet style society....
Never did get to that MiG though. Where is it exactly?

Moved from the monument (just behind it) a few blocks East to the militairy museum.
In a bad state cropped between other objects, lamppost and tree so hard to photograph.
Without editing this version at the moment

Septermber 8:

Today I visited the apron of Chisinau [LUKK] airport.
Every since (2004) I visit Moldova and I see all these great Russian aviation aircraft standing in the distance.
In aviation Russian build aircraft are my favourite.
Hereby I want to thank my guide who showed me all the aircraft and helicopters. :respect:

The following photos are not edited much yet and I am going to show a few for now, later on when I get home I'll finish the report with regi's and photos.
