Forum rules
ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

EHEH 27-10-2012 Skyvan F-GTHI

Post by janneman36 »

When i saw it last night in the dark i knew i had to get back the next morning.
The temperatures got to a freezing point that night and the sun was going to shine this morning.
I don't see many pictures of this plane so it was a very nice surprice to see it here.
I love this kind of opportunities...

This is aircraft is not from WWII. It's a Shorts SC.7 Skyvan. Apart from civil operators it is/was was also used by some military operators, for instance here in Europe by the air force of Austria. I advise you to google "Shorts Skyvan" and you will find lots of info.

(PS: Its forms are still somewhat recognisable in the newer Shorts 330 which is still used by the US Military as C-23 Sherpa. The Shorts 360, with a conventional tail, is a further developed version of the 330 model. The US Army ordered some new 360 models in the late 80s/early 90s as C-23B and C-23B+, but those models had their tails replaced by the tail-design of the older 330 model. The C-23B and C-23B+ was later renamed C-23C, probably as a result of some modifications. But you'll have to google further details yourself, if you're interesed)

Good luck!
