Memorial flight Margraten - 2008

Post by Paveway »

Hi All,

This weekend there will be a memorial day at Margraten.
Previous year there was a fly-by of 4 Dutch F-16's (Leeuwarden AB) and 4 USAF F-15's (Lakenheath AB) performing the 'missing man formation'.
Does anyone know whether there will be a fly-by of fighters and what the formation will be consiting of?

Thanks in advance for any info!

I suspect there will be a flyby which consists of F-16's from Volkel. Since 'Volkel in de Wolken' is this sunday and there is an overflight planned of some F-16's.

But hey, who am i :D

Can anyone confirm this?
Unfortunately no Eagles this year?
Anyway, it would be nice to see a C-130 performing the 'missing man formation'... ;-)

Thanks in advance!

Hi all,

Around 16:45LT, 4 F-16's (311sqn, Volkel AB) performed the 'missing man formation' over Margraten during the memorial ceremony on sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately, the serials were difficult to read due to straight overhead fly-by...

Can anyone provide serials and/or callsigns?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the info!

According the organisation of the Memorial Day, the F-16's were from 311sqn, but SG Volkel Forum reported only 312 & 313sqn F-16's active today...
Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks in advance!

On sunday there was NO sign of a C-130 and F-15's...

In the afternoon there were only 4 F-16's (Volkel AB) taking part in the 'missing man formation'...

Are we talking about the same or maybe another Memorial event?

Five F-16's took off from Volkel.
J-002 J-508 J-637 J-638 J-270
I don't know which aircraft flew over Margraten.
The J-270 was the only twinseater, maybe this helps.

Thanks for the info!

I don't know if there was a dual seat F-16 involved in the flypast.
The formation was too much overhead, so I could only see the 'belly' of the aircraft...

It seems that the 5-ship formation was flying over central Limburg when one of the aircraft splitted up and left the formation.
I don't know if this F-16 joined the 4-ship formation again after the flypast...

Greetings
