Hi Jeroen,

For military activity you won't have to go to Pula, as the military base is closed there.
I don't know was day you saw the MiG's and Mi-8. On the 24th three MiG-21's flew and I saw at least one Mi-8 flying. But another one was active that day.
So I guess I can't help you....

Best regards Rob.

PS. Anyone for the two missing aircraft at Velika Gorica??

Hi Rob,

Can't help you with the missing aircraft unfortunately. But nice log! No poblems with law enforcement? And did you do a "hit and run" or spend some time there?

No problems at all....

But as I was with my wife and kids, we just made a hit and run. Actually two hit and runs :D
We drove along the fence at 10 km/h and my wife took pictures of every aircraft she saw.
On the way back we did the same, only I took the pictures and stopped shortly at various places.

All aircraft are read from the pictures.

Best regards, Rob.

Is it worth a 3 hr drive to Pleso?
Have a nice holiday.

Well Jeroen, I can't help you with the serials of the MiG's and Mi-8.
On a normal day you have a 50% chance to see 1 or 2 MiG-21s.
So, make your decision....

Best regards Rob.

Rob,
The Cessna 188 is YU-BIE
The UTVA 75 must surely be 001, as all the others are accounted for (you saw 002, 003, 004, 005, 006, 009, 010, 011; 007 is preserved at Zadar; 008 is at Cakovec as 9A-DIH.
How did you identity MiG-21bis 114 please?
Regarding law enforcement, I have never had any problems in the four times I have been there. I usually just park the car out of sight and walk all the way around the perimeter fence...

Hi Jeroen,

I live in Zagreb, and I can tell you that you have better chance to catch Mig's at ZAG (Pleso) than at PUY (Pula) airport.
Mig pilots fly day after day (except weekends), but bad thing is that the visitors terrace at ZAG airport is closed so you'll have to go to some place around airport. There is few good points for taking pictures, some of them are accessable by car and some are foot only accessable. Also ther's few very good positions on the airports fence (on opposite side compared to the visitors terrace position) but airport security is not very happy with the people hanging on the fence.
Pula is seasonal airport so now PUY is good place for taking photos of European and some of Russian (mostly Airbus and Boeing planes) charter companys especialy at saturdays. And yes, there is a possibility of catching Mig's at PUY but it is similar to Forest Gumps story of life and a box of chocolates: "You never know what you're gonna get"... :D

Thanks Andy.

But wasn't the 001 suppost to be in a white color scheme just like the others?
When it was preserved at Pleso a few years ago it had that same white c/s.
I think this may be a former Bosnian UTVA.

Regards Rob
