Re: F-16 swap at Joint Base Balad

Post by J.J. »

The 14th EFS from Misawa AB is already on their way to Joint Base Balad for USAF´s AEF 5/6 (Cycle 7) rotation (September - December 2008).
Check:
http://www.misawa.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123116230" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.stripes.com/article.asp?sect" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... icle=57567
Note: During Misawa´s previous F-16C OIF deployments their deployed fighter packages made a first stopover in Australia and probably a second stopover at Al Udeid.

Dutchmil! Have you archived any first-hand logs with related serial numbers? BTW: Documenting the recent 421st EFS and 77th EFS OIF deployments to Joint Base Balad is still very difficult. Depending on released USAF photos, only a few couple of serial numbers is known to me. Tomorrow, I will post all related serial numbers provided by USAF shots.

Re: F-16 swap at Joint Base Balad

Post by J.J. »

If I rember right, the following Vipers were documented by USAF photos as part of the AEF 3/4 (Cycle 7) rotation (May - August 2008):

421st EFS from Hill AFB
88-0452 421st FS
88-0463 4th FS
89-2105 421st FS

77th EFS from Shaw AFB
88-0436 34th FS (marked 12TH AF)
90-0826 77th FS
93-0550 55th FS (photographed at Shaw during take off for deployment - could be also only an air spare)
93-0552 55th FS
94-0049 55th FS (marked 9 AF)
97-0111 55th FS

It would be very helpful to get full logs of their re-deployments!

A-10s returning from Bagram

Post by Dutchmil »

Hi,

The final six A-10s arrived tonight at Willow Grove as Huron 91-96 from Lajes.
Supporting KC-10 Blue 41 landed at KWRI and C-17 RCH491 went to Willow Grove aswell.

And more A-10s should be departing from CONUS to Lajes tonight.

SD Airmen Return From Overseas Deployment

The South Dakota Air National Guard is having a homecoming.

The Guard says 275 members of the 114th Fighter Wing will return Friday to the Sioux Falls base after being deployed the past several months to Iraq.

The Air National Guard says eight members will remain deployed in Southwest Asia this fall.

Earlier this month, about 40 airmen returned from duty in several nations in Europe and the Middle East.

SD Airmen Come Home

It was a morning filled with hugs, smiles and tears at the South Dakota Air Guard Base.

More than 275 members of the 114th Fighter Wing arrived in Sioux Falls Friday greeted by family and friends. The guard members had been stationed in Iraq for most of the summer.

A half dozen of the guard's F-16 fighter jets also flew in from Iraq. (emphasized by J.J.)

Tonight on KELOLAND News, we'll meet one of the guard members who had quite a surprise waiting for him as he stepped off the plane.

It should be very important that only about a half of the deployed ANG "Rainbow Team" Vipers returned on that day.

Anybody who can/will give us more detailed infos?

They arrived at Cherry Point MCAS about an hour ago as Mazda 91 flight. Supporting tankers were Blue 42 to Grand Forks AFB, Blue 43 to Andrews and KC-10 Blue 44 to McGuire AFB.

Hope this helps,

Hi Leandro,

Nice report, thanks for the logs.

Can you confirm or better do you have photoproof of AA-700 S-3 Viking.

As this was in another report as 160161/AA-700.
